Background Information

We wrote about SEO and used more than 300 pages. Write how to do SEO for a blog, just a few pages is enough. why? As search progressed, Google and other search engines were collecting more information so that they could recommend and rank blogs based on how many others trusted them .

What do you know about Google on your blog?

What does Google have?

Search engines have a range of trust rating metrics for blogs, and Google knows your blog better than you think. Google has these services:

Infer trust from user data

If a Google user subscribes to your blog, how much can Google use this person’s attention and subscription to your blog as a sign of trust? How long have they been subscribed? Does your user often interact on your website? What other sites have they subscribed to? What other sites do they interact with? What are their daily search and email habits?

If another blog link to you, how much does Google trust this link, and use this as a vote to help rank? Are other popular and trusted blogs linked to that site? How many people subscribe to RSS feeds for that site?

There are some services, such as Bloglines and MyBlogLog, that answer a part of the above question. Google can answer these questions more accurately than any other company.

In addition to the above data, Google also knows how old your website is, whether your content is stable, and whether your link growth is stable.

Why blogs are different from static websites

Blog SEO is different from most other sites, mainly because of the inherent socialization of blogging technology. Blog SEO is more about not buying links , or trying to manipulate immature search technology. Blog SEO is more about providing people with a topic that can be discussed and creating something that deserves people’s attention.

The social nature of blogs

  1. RSS and feed readers make it easy for readers to subscribe to each of your posts. When you publish, they can see it.
  2. Many people who read blogs also write blogs themselves. Some of them may have hundreds of readers. If there are several high-trust blogs that aggregate your blog, there will be a chain effect, which many readers will see. Your post.
  3. Top blogs that encourage comments, each post may have dozens of hundreds of comments. These comments also add unique content that increases the chances of page rankings.
  4. Optimizing blogs is more about attracting attention and gaining credibility by spreading good ideas, rather than optimizing page factors to please search relevance algorithms.

Domain registration and blog hosting

There are services like TypePad , Blogger and that can provide services to put your blog on their subdomains. Don’t do this. Some of these services offer limited functionality or do not allow ads on your site. It takes years and months to build a readership. Instead of moving the site later, it’s better to choose your own domain name from the start and put it on a reliable host.

You can register a domain name for less than $10 at Dreamhost is a great hosting service, and they provide easy installation of the WordPress blogging system.

Keyword research

Traditional keyword tool

There are already many free or paid keyword research tools . Some of them, such as Wordtracker , return keywords that people have recently searched for.

Trend related keyword tool

As a blog, you not only find out which words have been popular, but also which ones are currently hot. You can see what is happening now at Technorat,Google Blog Search and Google News. Services such as Google Trends and Yahoo! Buzz Index tell you which searches are the most popular on the first day.

Where to use keywords on the webpage

It’s important to use keywords in the title of the page, preferably near the front of the title. Several keywords, related words, and variations of popular keywords are also used in the content of the web page. But writing is naturally the most important thing. Make sure your content is fluent to the reader, which is more important than how the spider looks at your content. If the reader likes your content and links it, it is much more important than page optimization to read it like a machine.

Usually keyword research tools display variations of popular keywords. Some image display tools, such as Quintura ,display the related words used in the top-ranked files in the form of images.

Compared with the Neighbors

Meme Trackers

Which ideas are currently the fastest to spread? In the blog world, who is in the dialogue cecentreBoth TechMeme and TailRank highlight recent popular blog posts. There are also many topic-based meme trackers. World Bank has released their BuzzMonitor, an open source software that anyone can use to create their own meme trackers.

YouTube lists today’s most popular video, today most discussed video and today’s favourite videos. Many of these videos are not related to your website, but these videos can help you find good ideas that have spread quickly on social networks.

Social news website

The Digg , hot list and StumbleUpon Buzz both show popular ideas in social bookmarking recently. Pligg software makes it easy to build social news sites.

Focus on competitor websites

To be successful, you don’t have to keep track of everything, you just have to compete in your target market. Subscribe to some blogs on your target market, keep track of who gets the link, and why others are talking about them, which makes it easier for you to find good ideas and create good, worthwhile content to talk about.

With iGoogle, Google Reader or Bloglines, it’s easy to subscribe to a competitor’s blog on the target market. Use Technocratic or Google Blog search to view links to competing posts.

Discover new content ideas

Use the popular list mentioned above to find out why some ideas spread quickly. Which ideas were useful before? After doing this kind of investigation, it is easier to combine this idea with your market and create great ideas. Anything you see, including online reading, books, pictures, magazines, conferences, personal experiences, etc., may be the driving force behind creation. No matter where you go, take a camera and a notepad.

You can watch Darren Rowse’s ProBlogger and Performancing blogs, which have the latest blog trends.

Write a clear and convincing title

Cory Doctorow, a popular science fiction author and Boing Boing blogger, wrote the title in the following interview:

When writing a title, imagine that you are the author of a news agency.

Descriptive headings make your content easier to understand, and users are more likely to click on your pages when your site appears in search results. You can also make your title more emotionally appealing, such as asking a question or committing to solve a problem. Brian Clark offers many successful web title patterns in a magnet-like title article. Optimize website structure

Highlight your best content

Before September 2007, my homepage was the latest post on the blog. Although this helps promote new posts, it is not friendly to those newcomers. You should make sure your home page is attractive to newcomers to the industry. Provide guidance to their learning process, tell them where to start, and highlight your best content. If your website grows into a business, you need to invest in creating tools, adding forums and other interactive features to keep people coming back to your website.

Many blogging systems allow you to highlight the most popular posts, put the best content in the most visible places, and users can see it with one click. At the same time, these best posts also get more link weights, making people more likely to find your site from your best posts.

Many readers are coming to your website for the first time, citing some of your old articles so that they can understand your citations without having to write the same thing over and over again. If other sites aggregate your content, or other spam sites steal your content, citing old posts gives you a better chance of getting links to improve your rankings.

Do not crawl copy content

Michael Gray provides WordPress optimization tips in this video below.

Only one category for a post

Use the WP’s more feature to make the post show only a portion of the category page.

Using the robots.txt file, it is forbidden to crawl archive pages and other copied content.

Joost de Valk also offers more WP optimization tips in his WP SEO Guide.

Caveat. If you are new to the robots.txt file, be sure not to block all articles with dates. Suppose you enable the post slug URL and use the classification. Then the robots.txt file of the WP blog should look like this.

User-agent: * Disallow: /*p= Disallow: /*q= Disallow: /*trackback Disallow: /*feed Disallow: /*wp-login

Categories and tabs

Classification should match industry-related keywords. Such a site structure enables these classified pages to rank better when searching for related keywords. If your website is about losing weight, create categories such as sports, diet, diet pills, weight loss supplements, and more.

If you use categories and tabs at the same time, try not to overlap them. For example, if you have a “Create Link” category, don’t use “Create Link” as a label in many posts. The best classification is limited to ten or twenty, instead of having hundreds of categories or labels, and there are only a few posts in each category.

Many blogs list the previous post and the next post on each page. These links are convenient for users and also help search engines crawl your site. WP also has some plug-ins that post relevant posts at the end of the article to help readers find relevant content, especially if they come to your site from less relevant articles.

Edit page title

Many blog management systems place the site name in front of the post name in the title tag. The most relevant information at the top of the page title is the best. There are many WP plug-ins that can be used to modify the page title structure. The most common ones include all in one SEO pack and SEO Title Tag.

Traffic Analysis: Repeat the initial success

Website traffic analysis can tell you

  • Who links to your website?
  • Which posts do they link to?
  • What words do people search for by coming to your website?

If you know the circumstances of the people who quote you and why they refer to your website, it’s easier to create more content that they might like. If you know which keywords are searched for on your site, you know which topics your site is trusted in, and you know which related topics you can easily get ranked. Some bloggers modify their high-traffic pages and add some keyword variations, which makes their pages rank higher in more keywords and get traffic.

Google Analytics is free, I also like Mint, and the price is 30 registration fees per site. Performancing and My Blog Log provide traffic analytics programs specifically for blogs. Debate

Many people let fear control their behaviour, but most successful people are guided by instinct and intuition, not fear.

  • No one likes bully hooligans. Some bloggers are afraid of being accused or offending others. When I was accused, my name, exposure and income grew overnight. Of course, this is not to say that you should ignore the consequences, but illegal lawsuits can gain media exposure and natural trust.
  • Creative destruction is part of the business. After a few years, other people may provide the information I am selling now for free. Businessmen are worried about how to protect their copyright. But as the Internet becomes more competitive, we are lucky to have a chance to be copied.

Some bloggers who claim to be ethical play a good police bad police game in their marketing. In this post on the word-of-mouth marketing trick , Michael Arrington said he felt sick and vomiting. In fact, he does not really want to vomit, or why put this video on his website, those browsing made him a lot of money.

Use push marketing after publishing a website

If you are new to internet marketing, you should read Seth Godin’s Purple Cow to understand how to create great ideas. A link is nothing more than a reference. If you are outstanding, the link will naturally come. But at the beginning, there must be a little push marketing.

Most of the new information is junk or nonsense. A lot of rubbish is made using more and more complicated tools. Readers are also increasingly able to accurately and quickly determine the quality of information.

Using WP’s default template design, the reader may not like it. If you use a good-looking template or buy a professional design, this shows that you are serious and you are willing to invest in your website. Both format and design can increase trust.

It is easier to make others contact you. List your address, write an original, thoughtful piece of content on the About page, and list your resume, which helps to convince people of your site.

Link to other blogs

We are more acceptable for marketing messages that match our biases and interests. Talking about a person directly is the most relevant. Many blogs keep track of who links to them and see them.

Links to other useful related websites are one of the cheapest marketing techniques. Don’t just connect to another blog, you should add value and explain why you think they are right or wrong. Or consider asking someone you respect to provide feedback or asking if they would like to do an interview.

Establish a link

Search engines use links as a signal of trust. If you can afford it, I recommend submitting your blog to a comprehensive directory of authoritative, niche market directories and blog directories. There is more information on submitting a comprehensive catalogue in this article. Loren Baker also recently posted the best blog directory post.

Advertising the website

The more exposure, the better. A few dollars spent on advertising today may mean that your blog can become popular in a few months.

  • PPC advertising allows you to buy relevant traffic from search engines.
  • AAdWordshas a huge advertising network Adsense. Using Adsense to buy ads for specific websites, as well as Blog Ads, allows you to buy ads on specific content sites.
  • ReviewMe and other commenting networks allow you to buy paid reviews from relevant popular blogs.
  • From StumbleUpon ads, you can buy traffic to your article for a few cents.

Understanding network effects

Cumulative advantage

On April 15, 2007, sociologist Duncan J. Watts published an article in the New York Times, is Justine Timberlake a product with cumulative advantages? In this article, Duncan explains the social nature of our ddecision-making

People almost never make decisions independently. Partly because the world is full of choices, we have little hope of finding out what we want. Partly because we don’t know what we want. Partly because we often want things, we don’t want to experience the best, but we want to experience what other people want, so we can experience the benefits of sharing.

Because of this group’s thinking nature when making decisions, many things continue to be popular, simply because they are already popular.

Sharing social evidence

  • comment. If your site already has a lot of comments, people are more likely to participate in the discussion. You can encourage people to leave more comments by blanking “Leave Comments” or by listing the latest comments in the side navigation bar. Replying to a comment also makes it more likely that others will leave more messages. Some blogs are organized to leave comments on each other’s posts, making both blogs look more active.
  • Subscriber stats. If you have hundreds or thousands of subscribers, you can display these statistics.
  • Borrow authority. Before the project is released, ask the authoritative person in your industry for feedback. If they have a sense of belonging to the project, they may not only lend you a lot of trust, but also help you promote it for free.
  • Post your PR information. If you or your blog is reported by the mainstream media, displaying these stories on your website can enhance your authority.

Increase interaction

Users read blogs because they prefer to read posts instead of reading a book. Adding photos and videos to your posts and using lists can make your site easier to navigate.

Organizing an interactive contest or posting some rewards is one of the easiest ways for others to talk about your site. Dialogue is the key to profitability in the future. Cory Doctorow writes about the future of the media:

Today, the Internet has brought explosive growth in choice, and all entertainment is almost a click away. Finding music that is as interesting as your work, the cost of searching for books and movies has been greatly reduced. This is due to the recommendation system, search engine, and countless fan recommendation sites such as blogs and MySpaces. Your hobby is the same as someone in a certain place. If you want to compete with him, all you need is not just personal charm and hobbies. You need a conversation. In fact, in every art field, we see artists who talk to their audiences are the most successful. JMS participates in the fan newsgroup to keep the Babylon 5 active. Neil Gaiman’s blog is based almost entirely on conversations with thousands of readers. All independent bands on the Internet through the message board, the mailing list succeeded. Independent documentary authors like Jason Scott, comic authors like Warren Ellis, and more.

Participate in popular channels, build trust and exposure

  • Community forums often have a lot of traffic, and participating in these popular forums can help you build a reputation. Community forums are also a great place to find content ideas. If a question is frequently asked in a forum, the same question will be searched frequently in search engines.
  • Write guest articles to other popular websites so you can borrow their brand value, user trust and traffic.
  • There are blogs that host blogging carnivals to build exposures and links.
  • In other related blogs, leave useful related comments that may cause the other party to subscribe to your blog, and someone will click to come to your website.

Show your inclination

Sticking to your own inclinations and ideas makes it easier for others who share your views to trust you and spread the message. Most, if not all, popular political blogs are highly biased.

Suspend profit

If your site puts Adsense ads in the first place, then the opportunity to build momentum and capture market share from other industry leaders is small.

Set up a safety net

If many people read and trust your website, then Google relies more on you than on your dependence on them. This will make it difficult for Google to punish your site , because doing so will have more negative impact.

Aaron’s recent SEO demo at Blogworld

This demo explains why getting attention is important to the growth of a blog.
